A Very Easy Contest and Book Two...~Tanya Hanson

Okay doke. I can barely contain my joy! Not long ago, I sold
a young adult paranormal book on the Salem Witch Trials! The Circle Girls: Once

Upon a Witch will release in late 2012 through Pelican Book Group’s upcoming
new YA line, Watershed. Since I’ve worn a Stetson ever since my first book
years ago and think I’ve developed a Western brand, my editors and I decided on
a different pen name for this new venture. (There’s talk it could be a series.)

I think we got it, a riff on my name and a hint at my
ancestral heritage. And here’s the to-die-for cover.

While you’re thinking on it, I’ll mention Redeeming Daisy,
Book Two in my Hearts Crossing Ranch series at Pelican Book Group. This story
has its roots in the loss of our own precious black Labs.

Here’s the blurb: Veterinarian
rancher Pike Martin has no choice but to advise putting down Daisy Denmore’s
fatally ill dog, but she swears it's revenge for her mistreatment of Pike's
brother years ago. Although stung by her insult at his professionalism, Pike
finds himself drawn to the troubled woman who flounders in faith and aches for
love and acceptance.

Costly mistakes have sent Daisy down an
unrighteous path. Abandoned by her ex-husband, humiliated and broke, she has no
choice but to return to her parents’ home in Mountain Cove, Colorado. As soon
as she saves enough money, though, she'll be gone. Until Pike Martin's soft
voice, caring manner, and downright empathy for her wounds tempt her to stay.

With God on his side, can Pike help Daisy
along the path to forgiveness, trust, and whole-hearted love?

addy...I’ll be picking one commenter from all my posts today to receive the
darling cowgirl angel pin! (Yes, indeedy, you can post for more chances every single day!)

rename yourself, what name would YOU choose?

Hi Tanya,

Your YA sounds like a great read! I've always been interested in the Salem Witch Trials, it's always amazing how much like sheep people can be, especially when it comes to pointing fingers.

I think I'd chose a name like Kate or Ann, something simple and that everyone can spell. :o)

Hi Kirsten, I became practically obsessed with the trials during my American lit teaching days. It was always such a favorite unit with the students, most of all seeing how "real" it is even in every day life.

I was thrilled to be able to write this novel. Which has just the right amount of creepiness LOL.

As for names...mine has always been mispronounced. And misspelled. Sheesh.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Hey Tanya, great post. I love this series! And congratulations on the YA story. Woohoo! Living not far from Salem, that history has always very real to me. I can't imagine living through it, though.

Hi Donna, my husband and I had the pleasure of visiting Salem on a leaf peeping trip not long ago. He absolutely loved it, and for me, a dream come true! We attended a performance at the Witch's Museum that was marvelously accurate.

It was October, and of course, all the Halloween stuff was all hype.

But we loved it.

Thanks as always for your kind words and support. It means the world. xoxox

I've always been fascinated with the Salem witch trials. Gotta read Upon a Witch!

Well, since my name is rarely spelled or pronounced correctly, I'd probably go with something that wouldn't pose that problem. Maybe Amy or Beth. Good question...never really thought about what I'd choose rather than my own. I guess I'll keep it, since it was my grandmother's... :D

Love your new YA cover and the name you've chosen. So many adults are reading YA now, have you noticed? Of course you have. LOL Love the cowgirl angel pin, too, and would love to have it in spite of that bit about not coveting. Best of luck with your new line, Tanya. I know it will be successful.

Hi Delia, family names are the best, that's for sure. It was confusing at times though, since I share the first name of an aunt and cousin.

You'll notice I kept most of it for the pen name LOL.

Thanks so much for posting today. I so appreciate you. xoxo

Hi Caroline, I know what you mean. I wanna keep it, too LOL. One of the points the editors made when they acquired the book is yes, they want stuff that adults will buy, too.

I'm very excited about it. The Salem Witch Trials has always been a particular interest of mine. Mostly because witch hunting and finger pointing go on all around us all the time.

Tanya, these books both look EXCELLENT. The YA really tempts me, and I've taken a sudden interest in writing that genre myself. I must have these. LOL And that pin is to die for! I LOVE IT!Renaming ourselves--well, we've talked about the "issues" our own names have caused us in the writing world when we google them (G)and mine has caused me problems all my life, since it's CHAIR-yl rather than SHARE-yl like most people would say it. So I'd rename myself something that would be COMMON. Something everyone would "get" and not have to ask me again, "So, your name is CHeryl rather than SHeryl, right?" LOLLOL Probably Lisa, or Allison or something that there's NO WAY you could mispronounce. LOL
GOOD LUCK with the YA series! I know it'll be fabulous!
Cheryl

hi CHAIRyl,it's amazing how many people mispronounce mine (which is TAWNya) with the A like in apple. I think Tanya (like suntan) doesn't sound remotely nice.

I've always loved Lisa. But ya know, I had a student named Lisa one year who pronounced it Leeza. Ya just can't win LOL.

Thanks for the post, and I agree. YA rocks!

Hi, Tanya! As a odd name candidate, I always wished for a normal name, like Janice.

Tanya--Your ambition and creativity leave me breathless, wondering how you do so much. I appreciate any author who can write in cross genres, because I am not one of them. The YA venture, I have a feeling, will bring you high praise and noteriety, and you will have earned it. The Pelican group is a dream of many of us. I'm so glad to see someone as talented as you make it. Best wishes!
I like your pen name--new name for me? Can't think of a thing.
